Happy new year to one and all, I have just taken down the last of the Christmas decorations well the ones that survived Rupert's ministrations. Rupert is a wonderful really loving and very freindly six month old ginger cat, he is one of the nicest cats I've had. The trouble is, he truly is a hooligan and is always looking for trouble and I have to say he is very successful at finding trouble. |

Well winter has well and truly begun, it hasn't slowly crept in. It arrived very fast with a huge amount of snow, that is still here well after a week and with more snow adding to it. Being so very close to the sea we very rarely see snow here, we can go to the shops in the village and be very surprised to see it has snowed whilst we haven't even seen a snowflake.
The house is very quiet now that the kittens have gone to their new homes, we also lost Patches our border collie last weekend. She had reached a fine old age of 15, and was totally deaf and her eyesight had begun to fail. She died in the early hours of sunday morn, thankfully she just passed away in her sleep.
Well not long now till Christmas, we did put up our Christmas tree unfortunately it didn't last very long. Rupert our six month old ginger cat, he is a vandal, he took it upon himself to totally destroy the tree and decorations. The first night it was up he did quite good job of dismantling it, he chewed through the tree lights in a couple of places, we managed to rejoin the wires and redo the tree.
The following morning when we got up Rupert had been very busy, he hadn't just chewed through wires in a couple of places, he had made sure there was no way of re-joining the wires. There was bits of wire everywhere it looked like it had been through a shredder!
So we gave in and took the tree down... |

Well I have been off island, down in Aberdeen due to illness, so I'm afraid I have let things slip. The trouble is you never seem to catch up with things, the list of jobs seems endless. Believe it or not I've still got daffi bulbs to plant! hey ho.
Well the kittens are out of the box now and creating havoc, the lounge looks like a scene out of a Harry Potter film. Everywhere you look there are kittens and cats, I have to say that we are all feeling rather outnumbered by the cats! The good news is they are going to their new homes on Wednesday, so we can then maybe get back to some normality Phew! |

Early Winter/Kittens Update |

It's the middle of October and we have sleet and snow coming down! I am thinking winter is sneaking in already. We still have got a few jobs to do outside before the weather really closes in, I don't know where the days go.
Well the kittens are three and a half weeks old now, I started to wean them at the weekend. Poor mummy cat, Lottie, was really struggleing to fill the bellies of seven little kittens. I must say they have taken to the meaty gruel (kitten milk and meat whizzed in the blender) very well.
They are also using the litter tray after only showing them where it is once, easier than potty training kids! |

At long last after nine weeks and three days Lottie has finally had the long awaited kittens, the first was born at 9.30 on Sunday morning and the last was born at 3pm. She had eight kittens but sadly number six did not live.
She has four tabbies two speckled tabbies and the last which is the biggest is ginger, seven very large healthy kittens, it's no wonder she was like a barrel with all those in her tummy.
So a busy time ahead I'm thinking! |
