Had a real odd mixture of weather the last few days, I know they say you can experience all four seasons in one day here in Orkney. But how about three all at the same time? Well thats how it seemed on Friday. I was pottering in the garden room and it was lovely and sunny, then the heavens opened and we had very heavy rain, yet the sun was still shining and then the wind picked up and was blowing a gale, stranger still was it was sunny out of one window and positively grey out of the other. A very strange sort of day. I was glad my gardening was all in the garden room. I have to report on my grapes now, what I thought were grapes turned out to be flower buds. Which in turn have now turned into the genuine thing, GRAPES. They are slightly bigger than giant peas at this time, I'm giving them lots to drink and they are swelling nicely. Not wishing the summer away but I am looking forward to Autumn to harvest them, there are about thirty bunches so if they all grow big and fat and juicy we will be alright, can you make grape jam I wonder! Yes I know about wine, but it's too fiddly. |
